I. Introduction

Recently, an African air conditioner company contacted us, and it intends to entrust us to register its trademark in China.

We asked the reason why it would like to register Chinese trademark, it stated that its air conditioners are produced and manufactured in Chinese factory, so it needs to make sure the smooth and stable production and manufacture of its air conditioner, and not be affected by any potential trademark infringement.

We checked statistics in Chinese Customs about air conditioners. In 2025, China exported 82.3 million air conditioners, and total amount is USD15.9 billion, which means China is a large factory of producing air conditioners to the whole world.

II. Class and Items Choice for Air Conditioner

It is easy for us to determine that the trademark should be registered in Class 11, and we chose 10 items for the client.

The 10 items are: air conditioning apparatus, air conditioners for vehicles, air filters for air conditioners, fans for air conditioning, air purification apparatus and machines, air dryers, ventilation equipment and installations for air conditioning, air conditioners, air filtering equipment, humidifiers.

The 10 items we chose for the client perfectly cover its air conditioner products produced and manufactured in Chinese factory, and thus the client is very satisfied with the 10 items selected for it.

III. Documents Preparation

After the determination of class and items, we well prepared 3 documents for its seal and signature, and they are: original business license, Chinese version business license, Power of Attorney.

After it has sealed and signed all the 3 documents, we submitted the application to China Trademark Office.

IV. Subsequent Procedures

The application will go through subsequent procedures, they are: (1) form examination for 1 month; (2) substantive examination for 3-5 months; (3) Announcement Period for 3 months (if approved); (4) obtaining Chinese Trademark Certificate for 1 month.

Overall, it takes 4-6 months to know the result, and 8-10 months to get the registration certificate.
